The directors of our centre are highly motivated professionals who organise and manage a great team.
All our staff are given guidance and on going support to reach professional satisfaction and growth. In turn they provide experiences and incorporate teaching opportunities that are deliberate and purposeful to help engage the children. We’re very proud of our staff as they help to lead each child from the exciting days of early learning, through a smooth transition into school.
The directors are your first point of call for any questions or concerns you may have. Now, let them tell you a little about themselves...
Jo Owen – Centre Director
Hello! I have over 17 years’ experience in the Early Childhood industry and hold a Bachelor of
Education (Early Childhood). I have been working at Allambie Heights Children’s Centre for over
14 years, initially as room leader then taking on the role of Director.
It is a privilege to be supporting such a dedicated and caring team of educators who are continually striving to expand their knowledge and skills. Building relationships with the children and families who attend the centre is another very rewarding and important aspect of my position as Director.
We provide the children with a wide variety of experiences to develop their abilities and set them up with many skills they will use throughout their time at the centre, through school and beyond. That’s me on the right in the photo!
Lily Waterhouse – Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) Director
Hi, I am Lily (on the left in the photo), the Nominated Supervisor of the Allambie Heights Children’s Centre OSHC, which provides before and after school care for school aged children who attend Allambie Heights Public School.
I have worked in early childhood education and care, and school aged care environments for nine years. I hold a Diploma of Children’s Services and a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood).
I head a team of highly experienced and trained educators who are passionate about working with children and who ensure the children in our care are engaged in enjoyable and fun activities, specifically chosen to reflect the children’s interests.
We provide a variety of opportunities and experiences to nurture the imagination, creative thinking and sense of wonder in the children who attend our OSHC service.
Our program includes the use of interactive technology such as computers, educational videos and music which assist in providing stimulating and fun activities that also promote educational outcomes in such areas as literacy, numeracy and science.
Above all, we focus on making our service a fun and relaxing place where the children can feel at home before or after school.
